Coastal News Agency was established on December 1, 2023, in Mae Sot, Thailand. The agency was founded by individuals interested in the media sector with the aim of using media as a tool to support peace, stability, and long-term sustainable development in the region. Its activities include distributing news and information, producing video reports, articles, and documentaries related to Rakhine affairs as well as issues taking place across Myanmar.
Since its founding, Coastal News Agency has been publishing daily news through online platforms including Facebook, YouTube, Telegram, its website, and X (formerly Twitter). News content is presented in both Myanmar and English languages in the form of radio, print, and video reports.
Beginning on November 1, 2024, in cooperation with partner organizations and with approval from the Arakan Army’s censorship committee, the agency also started distributing free print publications twice a month to residents in Rakhine State, where phone and internet connections remain limited.
At present, Coastal News Agency continues to operate as an independent news organization, providing news coverage without reliance on outside groups.
