A local source reported that the military council fired artillery at Sandar Village School in Kyeintali Town, Gwa Township, where internally displaced people are sheltering. As a result, one refugee was killed and three others were injured.

A local resident said that the military council fired artillery to the village on the afternoon of September 15, even though there was no conflict at the time.

He said, “There was no fighting. On these days, the military council has been firing artillery indiscrim inately. An elderly woman was killed, and two other women and one man were injured. Now, the military council troops have reportedly called the dead and injured, and they said they will provide medical treatment.”

Sandar village is located between Kyauk Hkout Kwin and Sachet villages. Artillery fire was carried out by a police station based in Kalarpyin (Yadanamyine) village. After the shelling, military council troops arrived in the village and took the bodies of the deceased and the injured, according to local residents.

Locals report that there have been intense clashes between the military junta troops and the Arakan Army near Gantgaw dam in recent days. However, on these days, there have been no clashes between the two sides. Despite the pause in fighting, the military junta continues to carry out heavy weapon attacks, at least ten times per day.

(The names of the dead and injured were not included in the report because their families did not allow them to be used.)
