Military sources have informed CNA that the Arakan Army (AA) has reportedly seized control of the final remaining target in Taungkok town, the Operations Command Headquarters (Sakakha-5).
According to military sources, the Arakan Army (AA) seized control of Sakakha-5 on December 14. Over 100 troops from the command reportedly surrendered, while others fled. The Arakan Army is said to be pursuing and clearing out the retreating junta forces.
The command headquarters, Sakakha-5, was seized today,” the source said. “Over 100 troops surrendered, while junta forces that fled are being pursued and cleared. Many officers managed to escape. The retreating junta troops are reportedly fleeing toward Kyauk Tan Khar via the Yo road.
Additionally, it has been reported that some junta troops are fleeing toward Sainbhaw Dawint Kyinn, while clashes are occurring near Kyauk Tan Khar.
Currently, there are no more clashes at Sakakha-5, but junta forces are reportedly carrying out airstrikes, according to another military source.
The airstrikes are ongoing,” the source said. “Although there are no clashes at Sakakha-5, the operation to clear out fleeing forces continues, and gunfire can still be heard near the town.
As of the evening of December 14, the Arakan Army (AA) has not released any official statement regarding the seizure of Sakakha-5.
Similarly, reports have emerged that the Arakan Army (AA) has seized the Western Regional Military Headquarters (Na Pa Kha) in Ann Township. However, this information has not yet been confirmed.
