On January 8, around 1 PM, the military junta carried out an airstrike on Kyauk Ne Maw in Ramree Township, resulting in the loss of over 40 lives and leaving more than 50 people seriously injured, according to local residents who spoke to CNA.

The bombs dropped by the military junta’s airstrike hit the southern, northern, and central neighborhoods within the Kyauk Ne Maw area, causing widespread destruction to residential homes, according to reports.

The current death toll has exceeded 40, while more than 50 people have been injured. Among the injured, a significant number are in critical condition and facing life-threatening situations. “We are still gathering detailed information,” he said.

Among the deceased and injured are reported to be individuals of Rakhine ethnicity, as well as Kaman and Muslim communities.

It is said that there are many Kamans and Muslims. There are also Rakhine people.

The local people also mention that the military council carried out indiscriminate bombings on residential areas in Kyauk Ne Maw region, without any combat or battle taking place in those neighborhoods.
