According to local residents, on the morning of November 15, the military regime shot and murdered U Soe Myint, who was regularly performing cleaning duties at the Kine Shay Bridge in Taunggok Township. The incident was reported to have been carried out by the military junta.
U Soe Myint, who had been regularly collecting trash on Kine Shay Bridge every day without fail since 2019, was reportedly captured and shot by the military council forces yesterday while he was on his usual cleaning routine at the bridge’s summit. According to a local resident, U Soe Myint was murdered by the military junta’s soldiers.
“The military junta soldiers stationed at the local office detained him and shot him. He was doing his usual cleaning work there when they captured him and shot him dead. He had been cleaning the area every day without fail. They knew who he was, and still, they shot him,” the local resident explained, adding, “We are deeply saddened by this.”
U Soe Myint was 70 years old and resided in the Kan Pine neighborhood of Taungkok Township.
After the incident, the military forces reportedly left U Soe Myint’s body by the side of Kine Shay Bridge, and locals were not allowed to retrieve the remains.
A local resident further explained, “Right now, the military junta soldiers are not allowing people from the town to go outside. Anyone who tries to leave the town is shot. U Soe Myint’s body was left at the edge of the bridge. No one has been able to collect it, and no one dares to go near, as the military junta soldiers are still there.” Since November 1, intense fighting has erupted between the military junta forces and the Arakan Army in Taungkok Township. The Arakan Army captured military junta bases in Mt. Pan Myauk and Alinn Nga Sint areas.
Following that, the Arakan Army’s forces have continued to target and assault the military council’s bases in Taungkok Township.
